Lew Welch, Beat poet, friend and companion to Hack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Snyder, Philip Whalen, Albert Saigo, Michael McClure and Neil Cassidy to name a few, disappeared in 1971 in the Sierra Mountains of Northern California. There was no memorial-until now.
Magda Cregg, his wife, edited this gathering of essays, poems, songs, photographs, drawings and memories from fifty of the people who loved him best.
Featuring such notables as Robert Creeley, Gary Snyder, Joanne Kyger, Michael McCure, Peter Coyote, Huey Lewis, Margo Patterson Doss, David Meltzer, Donald Allen and Robert Hunter among others.
This is not only a testament to the man, but also an intimate look at the time in which he lived. It is touching, raw, funny, and historically important.
